Who I am

Amy Boers is well known as a collaborative pianist, music director, singer, and church musician. As pianist and collaborator, she currently holds positions at Pacific Lutheran University, Symphony Tacoma Voices (pianist and assistant rehearsal conductor) and is Director of Music at Mountain View Lutheran Church. Her work at Pacific Lutheran University is varied between rehearsal pianist for choral ensembles, opera workshop, accompanying and coaching private students, team-teaching theater courses, and she is resident Music Director in the School of Music, Theater & Dance.

Amy has played with many of the Pacific Northwest’s premiere choral ensembles while valuing her episodic collaborations with the best middle school and high school choral program as well.

As a clinician, she loves to attend and facilitate retreats with local schools and school districts, focusing on the idea of artistry and collaboration. When judging solo & ensemble contests, she sees her exposure to hundreds of young singers as an opportunity to build trust and share love through the gift of singing.

As a conductor, Amy has led regional honor choirs and coached developing choral conductors from across the Western Hemisphere at the Cascade Conducting Masterclass in Tacoma and presented workshops at WMEA and NWACDA conferences. She also leads pedagogical workshops for choral conductors and collaborative artists regionally and in Canada. As a true collaborative artist known for her deep insight and “getting inside the conductor’s head,” she provides feedback through the special lens of accompanist, singer and conductor combined.
